6 Days Ngorongoro and Gorilla Trekking Safari

The 6 days Ngorongoro and gorilla trekking safari will take you through Uganda for gorilla trekking and Tanzania for an amazing game drive. In this safari, you will visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for game viewing. The trip will start from Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania and end at the Entebbe International Airport. You expect to tour Olduvai Gorge Museum also known as “the cradle land of mankind”.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area

As you arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet our driver guide. He or she will brief you about the 6 days Ngorongoro and gorilla trekking safari. After meeting and greeting, you will start with a transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The transfer will take about 4 to 5 hours of the day. Upon arrival, you will start with lunch and be left to relax for the rest of the day. In the evening, you will engage in an evening game drive. During this game drive, you will see several wild animals like lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and many others. Return to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 2: Full-day adventure in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area

You will engage in the full-day adventure in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The game drive will start in a 4×4 safari land cruiser with a pop-up roof for scenic views. You will also engage in the picnic lunch and then continue with the game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest crater. Make sure you enjoy it to the maximum. Visit the Oduvai Gorge and see where the first remains of mankind were discovered. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Arusha for a flight to Uganda

Day 3 will start with a morning breakfast and then continue to Arusha. At the Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will board a flight to Uganda. On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will be transferred to a hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

 After your early morning breakfast, you will start over with the transfer to the Bwindi impenetrable national park in southwestern Uganda. You will make a stopover at the Uganda Equator for photography. Proceed with a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The transfer will take about 8 hours to reach the park. Upon arrival, you will check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community tour 

On the second last day of the 6 Days Ngorongoro and Gorilla Trekking Safari, you will have an early breakfast and then go to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking. You will learn about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations. Get clearance from the officials and join a group of other 7 people. An armed ranger guide will be assigned to your group and the gorilla trekking adventure begins.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda involves walking through lush green impenetrable forests. This is why you need to have packed right. Read about what to wear for gorilla trekking in Uganda. You will meet a gorilla family and spend at least one hour in their presence. Make sure you take as many photos as you can because such moments are rare on any safari. Return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit the neighboring Batwa Villages. The Batwa are believed to have been residents of the rainforests in Africa for millions of years. You will learn about their ways of life such as fruit gathering, hunting, dancing, and brewing local beer. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Entebbe International Airport

The last day will start with a delicious breakfast (a cup of Ugandan coffee or tea) and then continue with a transfer to Entebbe International Airport. During the transfer, you will make a stopover at the equator for lunch. Then continue to Entebbe. Upon arrival, you will either be transferred to a hotel of your choice or the airport for an outbound flight. Bid farewell to our team. This will be the end of your 6 days Ngorongoro and gorilla trekking safari.
