Detailed Itinerary  

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

On day 1 of the 3 days explore Bunyonyi from Kigali, you will meet our driver guide. He will take you through briefing and other formalities.  You will later transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This will involve a cross-border clearance through the Kyanika border. After checking in at the migration offices at the border points, you will continue with the transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Upon arrival at the park, you do a short community tour. Visiting the Batwa – believed to be the early inhabitants who used to live with the mountain gorillas in the park. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Day 2 will take you through the early morning breakfast and proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. A typical gorilla trekking day is full of expectations. After briefing and other formalities, you will take a walk in the forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. With the help of experienced guides and rangers, spotting gorillas never takes longer than 2 hours before you meet these magical species. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence. It is here that you will take photos and capture everlasting memories.

As soon as gorilla trekking is done, you will relax and have lunch. Later on, you will drive to Kabale – Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is a famous birding area. It is home to multiple bird species. Arrive just in time for dinner and relax enjoying tranquility at the lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Boat Cruise and transfer to Kigali

Wake up to a cozy breakfast, head out to a dugout canoe or boat, and explore Lake Bunyonyi at length. Whether it is taking a walk around the communities or exploring the many islands, the morning is yours. Lake Bunyonyi has fresh water and they are bilharzia free. This means that you can do swimming if you wish. Please note that it is Africa’s second-deepest lake, be careful not to drown. Have lunch in the right time and embark on a drive to Kigali – Rwanda.
