Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, you will meet our professional guide. He or she will brief you about the 12 days Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari. You will embark on the drive to Kenya’s Lake Nakuru National Park. The park is famous for being home to large numbers of flamingo birds. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. The rest of the day is yours to relax. You may go for a guided nature walk or afternoon game drive to introduce you to the park. Make the most of your lodge facilities like a bar, restaurant, and swimming pool. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. You will explore the park at length and go as deep as you can. You will enjoy the beauty of the Lake painted pink by the pink flamingos. You will also meet animals like leopards, zebras, waterbucks, and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. You will enjoy scenic views of the endless savannah plains as you draw near the park. once you arrive, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 3: Full-day game drives in Masai Mara National Reserve

On the 3rd day of your 12 days Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari, you will explore the extensive savannah plains of Kenya. You will start with a delicious breakfast at your lodge. You will then embark on a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara Reserve. The reserve is home to wildebeests, lions, cheetahs, antelopes, zebras, spotted hyenas, and many more. You will visit the Mara River and witness the wildebeests crossing this crocodile-invested river. A picnic lunch in the middle of nowhere will be organized to allow you to create an everlasting memory. Dinner and overnight will be at a tented camp or lodge.

Day 4: Fly to Uganda – Entebbe International Airport

After a morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge or tented camp and embark on the drive to the closest airfield in the Mara National Reserve. Get on board and bid farewell to Kenya as you fly to Uganda. Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our Uganda driver guide. He or she will brief you about the remaining days of this 12 days Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari. You will then drive to a hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe town. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Kibale National Park. Kibale National Park is also known as the Primate Capital of the World since it is home to many primate species. Some of the primate species in Kibale National Park include chimpanzees, velvet monkeys, baboons, and white colobus monkeys. The park is also a reliable safari destination for birding. Birding in Kibale National Park is mainly done in the Bogodi Wetland. Lunch will be along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters for briefing. The briefing is meant to equip you with knowledge about the do’s and don’ts of the chimpanzee trekking activity. Once the briefing is done, you will be led by a professional ranger and start the search for these human-like apes. Upon meeting the chimps, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence. You will also see many other wildlife and bird species along the way. Return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch.

In the afternoon, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is home to the rare tree-climbing lions. You pass by the Amabere Caves and hike to the top of the world. Additionally, scenic views of Uganda’s highest mountains will also be enjoyed. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise at Kazinga Channel

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector. The sector is a famous home to elephants, impalas, and buffaloes. You will see hundreds of bird species majority of which are the Rift Valley endemics. You may as well visit the Lake Katwe Salt mining area and interact with the local members of the community. Return to your lodge for lunch and a water break.

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The channel is a meeting point for many animals, especially during the dry season. You will interact with local fishermen. In the later hours of the day, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have a game drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will witness the tree-climbing lions as well as other wildlife species. You will have an en-route lunch and continue to Bwindi National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and spend the night over.

Day 9: Mountain gorilla trekking and Batwa Community Tour

This is the long-awaited day of your 12 days Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari. It starts with an early breakfast at your lodge followed by a transfer to the park headquarters for briefing. There are four gorilla trekking sectors in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Each sector has a briefing center. After the briefing, you will enter the impenetrable thickets in search of the mountain gorillas. With the help of experienced rangers and tour guides, spotting the gorillas is a sure deal in Bwindi. Once you come across the mountain gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will visit the neighboring Batwa communities for an extraordinary Uganda cultural tour. You will learn about their traditions and customs as well as participate in their chores. Return to your lodge in the later hours of the day for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Rwanda

After a meal in the morning, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a drive to Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. The park is home to mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The drive takes you through the rolling hills of Uganda and Rwanda while enjoying views of the Virunga volcanoes. Lunch will be along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and spend the night over.

Day 11: Golden Monkey Trekking and Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village Tour

After breakfast, you will report to the briefing center. You will be grouped and assigned a professional guide. Volcanoes National Park is known for being home to many primate species including the critically endangered mountain gorillas. You will pass by the Dian Fossey grave in the Karisoke Reserve Centre. Dian Fossey was a great primatologist who spent almost all her life conserving gorillas.

After lunch, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village formerly known as the Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the African culture and learn about the mysterious traditions and customs. Return to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 12: Transfer to Kigali – Departure

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive through Rwanda’s endless rolling hills to Kigali city. You will have a delicious meal at any hotel in Kigali. Depending on your flight timetable, you may do an optional tour of the Rwanda Genocide Memorial sites. The driver will drop you off at the Kigali International Airport for your outbound flight. This will mark the end of your amazing 12 days Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari.
