Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Amboseli National Park

Upon arrival at Nairobi airport, you will be picked up by our driver guide who take you briefly through your itinerary. He will later on transfer you to Amboseli National Park and lunch will be en route. You will observe the beautiful landscape sceneries of the countryside before arriving at the park. You will then check into your lodge just in time for your dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive and guided nature walks

In the morning you will be served a delicious breakfast before heading out for a game drive. Our driver guide will then take you on a game-viewing experience where you will view a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, zebras, buffaloes, and many more. Amboseli is renowned for harboring large populations of elephants. While in the park you will surely have a special moment of witnessing these gentle giants.

You have lunch at your lodge as you prepare for the afternoon activities. Immediately after your lunch, you will take on a guided nature walk in the park. An armed ranger will guide you to the observation hill from where you will spot several wildlife such as elephants, antelopes, and buffaloes grazing. A guided nature walk in the park is a great chance for you to get up close to these animals. You will also spot in a distance Mount Kilimanjaro from Tanzania the tallest mountain in Africa. As evening sets in you will observe the sun setting on the savannah plains of the park. You will return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

You will in the morning have breakfast, check out, and hit the road to Masai Mara National Reserve. This relatively long journey will take you to some of the best safari destinations in the world. Lunch will be served on your way to the reserve. You will view the locals in the rural setting as there by their daily routines in the countryside. By evening you will be served dinner after checking into your lodge and overnight.

Day 4: Game drive and community visits

After your mouth-watering breakfast, you will engage in a game drive early in the morning. This is a chance for you to view the wildlife species up close in the park in the comfort of your vehicle. You will view a ton of wildlife species including the big 5 animals, antelopes, zebras, and wildebeest among others.

You thereafter head to your lodge for your lunch. In the afternoon, you will take on a community tour of the communities around the reserve. You will meet and interact with the Masai people who have lived in the areas around the reserve for generations. You will witness some of their traditions like dances, songs, dressing, and their survival ways. The Masai people are cattle keepers and they are allowed to graze their livestock in game reserve. In the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Fly from Masai Mara National Reserve to Entebbe International Airport

You will check out of your lodge immediately after your breakfast. You will be picked up and transferred to the nearest airfield by our driver guide.  From here, you will board your flight to Entebbe International Airport. Our driver will then pick you up upon arrival and transport you to your booked hotel. You will have dinner and relax for the night. Depending on the time of arrival, you may take on a birding tour in the Mabamba Swamp. This can be a rewarding activity on this 12 days wildebeests and double gorilla trekking Safari.

Day 6: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After your breakfast at your hotel, you will check out and our driver guide will transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park. You will make a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and spot the endangered white rhinos and lunch will be en route. You will spend some time with them and take part in feeding them together with the guidance of the rangers. You will later hit the road to Murchison Falls and by the time evening sets in you will be at your lodge. Dinner will be served and you will have a peaceful overnight.

Day 7: Game drive and boat cruise on River Nile 

You will have breakfast early in the morning after that our driver guide will pick you up for a morning game drive in the park. A game viewing Murchison Falls National Park takes you on a roller-coaster of attractions. From the four of the big 5 animals such as lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes to other animals like hyenas, giraffes, antelopes, warthogs, and more. You will also witness the world’s strongest waterfall the Murchison Falls which is usually the main highlight of your game drive. 

After lunch, you will head to the Nile River for a boat cruise experience. You will take on a magical boat cruise safari on the Victoria Nile. Day 8: Transfer to Kibale National Park and Bigodi Wetland Tour

Breakfast will be served early in the morning and from here you will check out of your lodge. Our driver guide will then transfer you to Kibale National Park. You will have designated stopovers at the tea plantations and the tea factory to observe how tea beverage is manufactured. You will check into your lodge in the park and have lunch.

In the afternoon, you will head out to Bigodi for a wetland tour. This wetland is an important birding area as it hosts numerous bird species. Other than the birds, you will also spot a variety of primates such as vervet monkeys, and black and white colobus monkeys among others. In the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

In the morning after your breakfast, you will be driven to the park offices to prepare for the chimpanzee tracking safari. You will receive the guidelines, rules, and regulations of chimpanzee tracking from the officials. A professional ranger will thereafter guide you through the forests of Kibale to the chimpanzees.

You will then be given an hour with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat after they have been located. You will observe them as they roam on the ground, climb, and jump from tree to tree as they feed. You will then return to your lodge for lunch and check out. Our driver will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. By evening you will have checked in your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Community Tour

You will have breakfast and be transported to the Bwindi offices for a short pre-trekking experience. After this briefing, you will be grouped in groups of 8 and guided through the forests by a professional ranger on a search for the gorillas. You will come across other smaller primates like vervet monkeys, and olive baboons among others on your trekking. Upon finding the endangered mountain gorillas, you will be given an hour to observe them as they go by their daily chores in the park. You will then head back to your lodge for your lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit the communities of the Batwa people around the park. The Batwa pygmies are one of the oldest ethnic groups in Africa. The Batwa of Bwindi are considered the forest keepers because they lived and survived in Bwindi before it was gazette. You will be entertained by their traditional dances and songs as well as interactions with their elders at their ancient history and survival skills. In the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Cultural Tour

Immediately after having breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and hit the road to Volcanoes National Park. You will travel through the Katuna border into Rwanda. You will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the rural areas of Rwanda. You will arrive at your lodge in the park, check-in and have lunch. After your lunch, you will embark on a cultural tour at Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village. You will be welcomed by the cultural dancers with their traditional songs and dances. You will observe the artifacts in the cultural village as well as their ceremonies. In the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Gorilla trekking and Transfer to Kigali – Departure

On this last day of your 12 days wildebeests and double gorilla trekking Safari, you will wake up to a delicious breakfast before heading to the park offices. You will receive a pre-trekking briefing at the park offices about the expected code of conduct while trekking. After categorizing you into groups of 8, you will be guided by a professional ranger to the Volcano’s jungles. In this search for the endangered mountain gorillas, you will encounter a variety of birds, wildlife, and primate species.

After the endangered mountain gorillas are located, you will be given one hour to spend with them in their natural habitats. You will watch them roam as they feed and rest in the bamboo forests in the park. You will thereafter head back to your lodge for lunch and check out.
