Welcome to your 14 days off-the-beaten-path Uganda safari where you will explore the hidden gems of Uganda. Your trip around the northern and eastern regions of Uganda will begin and end in Kampala. You will be exposed to the different attractions of Uganda from wildlife species, and bird species to the different physical features. You will also take part in different activities like game drives, nature walks, boat cruises, rock climbing, and abseiling. Below is how your 14 days off-the-beaten-path Uganda safari will run in detail.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Optional Kampala City Tour

Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be picked up by our driver guide who will brief you about your 14 days off-the-beaten-path Uganda safari. He will then transfer you to the city to your booked hotel for lunch. After your lunch, you can take on an optional tour in the city center to the different local markets like Nakasero and Owino markets. In the evening you will have dinner and rest as you prepare for the next day.

Day 2: Transfer to Sipi Falls

In the morning you will have breakfast and hit the road to Sipi Falls. The falls are located in Mbale district so it will take you about 5-6 hours. Sipi Falls offers the best adventurous scenes in Uganda. Lunch will be served en route and you will enjoy your journey to the falls with amazing rural scenes of the countryside. In the evening when you arrive at your lodge, you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Coffee plantation tours, Rock climbing, and Abseiling

The following day after your breakfast, you will visit the coffee plantations. The type of coffee grown in this area is Arabic coffee and it is the main cash crop in this region. The region area the Sipi Falls is rich in highly fertile volcanic soils thus favoring the growth of Arabic coffee. After your lunch, you will head to the bottom of the Sipi Falls for a rock climbing and abseiling experience. In the evening you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Hike to the top of the falls

After your breakfast, you will embark on a hiking safari to the top of Sipi Falls. This is an adventurous moment that involves walking through slippery terrain. You will pass the Simba and Ngasire through to the Sipi Falls which is the main 100-meter waterfall. While on top of the falls, you will have magnificent scenes.

Day 5: Transfer to Pian Upe Game Reserve

You will be transferred to Pian Upe game reserve immediately after your breakfast. Pian Upe game reserve is the largest protected area in the country located in the Karamoja sub-region. Lunch will be en route to the reserve and while on your way you will view the different lifestyles of the people from the countryside. In the evening, you will arrive at your lodge for your dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Game drive and nature walks

In the morning, you will have breakfast and head out for a game drive. Pian Upe game reserve is rich with a variety of wildlife species such as cheetahs, leopards, zebras, waterbucks, Uganda Kob, and serval cats to mention but a few. These can be spotted while on a game drive in the reserve. Game drives involve viewing wildlife species in their natural habitats in the comfort of your vehicle. You will be transferred to your lodge for lunch. After your lunch, you will head out for a nature walk in the game reserve. During this walk, you will explore the game reserve on foot and have some incredible scenes of animals and bird species. You will have to your lodge for dinner and overnight in the evening after your nature walk.

Day 7: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

Breakfast will be served early in the morning, and from there you will embark on your journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. This 300-kilometer journey will take you between 5-6 hours and lunch will served on the way. In the evening you will arrive at the park, check in, have dinner, and overnight.

Day 8: Game drive and guided nature walk

The following morning you will be served breakfast at your lodge and after our drive guide will pick you up and head out for a game drive. The drive will take place in the Narus Valley where most of the wildlife species of both prey and predator concentrate. The valley is rich with fresh pasture and the flowing of River Narus thus attracting a lot of animals. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, lions, hyenas, leopards, cheetahs, bat-eared foxes, and black-backed jackals among others are some of the animals to see on the game drive. You will then have lunch and prepare for the afternoon activity of a nature walk. Guided nature walks in the park take place along designated hiking trails. Mount Morungole is an ideal place for guided nature walks as it entertains you with several bird species and other animals up close. After your nature walk you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

In the morning after your breakfast, you will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park on the northwestern side of the country. It is quite an interesting journey as you get to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the countryside. Lunch will be en route to the park. In the evening you will arrive at your booked lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Game and boat cruise on the Nile

You will After your breakfast head out for a game drive in the park. Morning game drives in the park often take about 2 hours. During this, you will encounter different wildlife species like the big four animals namely; lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards. You will also view hyenas, antelopes, giraffes, warthogs, oribis, and many others. You will conclude your drive with a visit to Murchison Falls, the strongest waterfall in the world. The roar of the falls came to be heard over a mile away. In the afternoon after your lunch, you will take on a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile. You will be sure to spot some aquatic animals like hippos and crocodiles as well as numerous bird and animal species on the shores of the river. In the evening you will have dinner and overnight back at your lodge.

Day 11: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest

Our driver guide will pick you up in the morning after your breakfast and drive to Budongo forest for chimpanzee tracking. The forest is at the end of the park and is a natural forest part of the Murchison Falls National Park Conservation Area. The forest is home to several chimpanzees and other primates like vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and others. Tracking of chimpanzees begins with a briefing from the rangers and after the activity begins. You will be guided by a ranger through the thick forests to the natural habitats of the chimpanzees. You will be given an hour in the presence of the chimpanzees. You thereafter head back for lunch and relax at your lodge. In the afternoon you can do an optional activity like nature walks in the park. In the evening you will be served dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Transfer to Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve and afternoon hiking

You will be transferred to Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve immediately after your breakfast. Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve is located southwest of Murchison and it will take you about 2-3 hours. You will have lunch at your lodge on arrival at Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve. In the afternoon you will take a hike in the reserve. The hike will introduce you to different animal species like antelopes, warthogs, and numerous birds. You will also have spectacular scenes of the Blue Mountains of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the evening you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Game drive and Fishing on Lake Albert

Breakfast will be served early in the morning at your lodge and after you will have a game drive in the reserve. The Kabwoya Game Reserve hosts several wildlife and bird species. The reserve is dominated by short savannah grasslands which offer the best views of animals on the game drive. The reserve is home to animals like buffaloes, impalas, duikers, bushbucks sitatunga among others. You will be sure to spot these animals and more while on the game drive. In the afternoon after your lunch, you will head to Lake Albert for a fishing session. The lake hosts a large number of various fish species thus the best spot for anglers. You will be provided with fishing equipment and on a motor boat you head to the fishing spots on the lake. In the evening you will head to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 14: Transfer back to Kampala - Departure

On the last day of your 14 days off-the-beaten-path Uganda safari, you will be served a delicious breakfast early in the morning. Our driver guide will then pick you up and after checking out of your lodge, drive you back to Kampala for your departure back home. You will be served lunch while on your journey.
