Ugandan Safaris


Overview

This 7 days safari will flow straight from Entebbe International Airport then go birding in Entebbe along Lake Victoria shores, Botanical Gardens and the Uganda Wildlife Education Center, have a visit to Mabamba Wetlands for birds, travel to Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and then make a departure for your next destination.


Schedule

Day 1: Arrival at the Airport
Meet with our company representative at Entebbe International Airport who will greet and welcome you warmly. He will then transfer you to your pre booked hotel in Entebbe town for dinner and relaxation.
Lodging: Victoria Serena (luxury), Papyrus Guest House (mid-range), Gately Inn Entebbe (budget).
 
Day 2: Your birding experience in Entebbe.
After your breakfast you will be transferred to visit different birding areas in Entebbe the whole day will be full of the birding experience. You will go to Botanical Gardens and also go to Uganda Wildlife Education Center. Expect to view birds like weavers, Ashy Flycatcher, grey woodpecker, diederik Cuckoo, Gabor Goshawk, Green throated Sunbird, collared sunbird, Olive Bellied sun bird, Lizzard Buzzard, if you are lucky you will see the Bat Hawl, the Great Blue Turaco, Palm Nut Vulture and many more, have your lunch at UWEC and continue with birding till evening and drive back to your hotel.

Day 3: Mabamba birding experience.
After having breakfast you will have a morning drive to Mabamba swamp where you will see the rare shoebill Stork and other water birds like the yellow billed Duck, Northern Brown Throated Weaver, Malachite King fisher, the purple and common squacco Heron, African and Lesser jacana plus many more. Then proceed to Lake Mburo National Park lunch will be en-route most probably at the Equator when you make a stopover for the water experiment and cool photos. If you still have time you can as well make another stopover at Kaaku swamp the popular area for birds like the Lesser Jacana, Moorhen and Rufous-bellied Heron, this same place has other varieties of water birds, continue up to Lake Mburo and check in to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 4: Birding at Lake Mburo National Park.
After breakfast head out for a morning game drive combined with birding where you should expect to see birds like Red-faced Barbet, Red headed weaver, Brown-chested plover (It’s a migrant bird which comes from west Africa around June and December), the crested Francolin, Coqui and will view several animals too including the elands, impalas, zebras, water bucks, topis and more. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for the boat cruise on the Lake where the African Finfoot is commonly found plus other water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and boat ride.
After having your breakfast drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will view beautiful sceneries all the way with rolling hills and valleys, you will arrive in the afternoon, check in to your lodge, have lunch and then embark on your boat cruise on Kazinga Channel where Lakes Edward and George connect. Expect to view several schools of hippos up close in water, crocodiles, birds like the African Fish Eagle, the snake birds, the pied king fishers, African Skimmers (but these are seasonal), African Spoonbill among others.

Day 6: More birding in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Have your breakfast and drive out for whole day’s birding with a game drive too, it will reward you with birds like Black headed, Gonolek, Great and lesser Flamingos, temminck’s Courser, Martial Eagle, African Crake, African Skimmer, Verreaux’s Eagle-Owl, Rupell’s Griffon, Lappet Faced Vultures, Abyssinian Grand Hornbil,Blue Quail among other birds. You will have a chance to also see animals like the Uganda kobs, water bucks, elephants, lions, spotted Hyena, buffaloes and many other animals. Return to the lodge have your lunch and relax a bit, in the afternoon if still have energy, you will go for another birding secession around the crater areas or have some drinks as you interact with other guests around.

Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe and departure.
Following your breakfast, you will embark on your journey back to Kampala, dpending on your flight schedule you can make a stopover and do last minute souvenir shopping around craft villages in Kampala. Then proceed to Entebbe and get on your out bound flight.
