Overview

Embrace these 5 days of a safari to Murchison Falls National Park because it will reward you with the best birding experience you will never forget. You will start the safari with a game drive which will give you the opportunity to watch a variety of birds which will include the Abyssinisn Ground-Hornbill, the red-cheeked Cordon blue, the silver birds, the sun birds, the lap wings, the bee –eaters, canaries among other bird creatures. You will further take part in the birding experiences along the Nile River, the Delta areas and Budongo Forest. Expect your program like; 


Schedule

Day One: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
After having your breakfast, our guide will pick you up from your Hotel in Kampala and then drive you to Murchison Falls National Park through the green vegetation, the hills and valleys of the Pearl of Africa. Get to Masindi town have lunch there and then continue to the park, enter the park via Kicumbanyombo gate and go straight to the top of the falls firstly for the first activity of your birding in the park, here you will meet the birds like the Pel’s fishing Owl, Bat Hawk, Rock Pranticoles among others. Drive to check in to your lodge for relaxation and dinner.
Lodging: Paraa Safari Lodge (Luxury), Sambiya River Lodge (Mid-range), Red Chili (Budget).
 
Day Two: Go and cruise for Birding at Lake Albert at the delta.
After having breakfast, you will have a morning cruise down the stream to the Nile at Lake Albert Delta which will reward you with rare birds of Africa including the rare shoebill stork, red-throated Bee-eater, red-cheeked Cordon blue, sun-birds, wax-bills, and pink backed pelican, black-billed barbet, speckle fronted weaver among others. Return to the lodge for lunch, in the afternoon walk around paraa areas for birds till sun set then return to the lodge.

Day Three: go for a morning game drive along the Nile.
 Wake up to your breakfast and then drive for you game drive along the Nile on top of the animals around, expect to see a variety of bird species swinging and singing all over. Expect to see birds like Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Swallow-tailed Bee-eater, Speckle fronted weaver, Red-throated Bee-eater, Black-billed Barbet, Black-headed plover among others. Return to the lodge and have lunch, after lunch go for the 2 hours boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, there are several birds all through the boat trip including the African giant eagle, the pied king fishers, sun birds, lap wings, saddle bill storks, hornbills, hummer corps, snake birds, Red-throated bee-eaters and many more.

Day Four: Go do Birding in Budongo Forest.
After your morning breakfast, head out to Budongo Forest where you should expect to see birds like Chocolate –backed Kingfisher, blue-breasted king fisher, African Crowned Eagle, White-thighed Hornbill, tinker birds and Barbets, grey-throated fly catcher, purple headed starling among other birds. Return to the lodge, have lunch and have some relaxation at the lodge as you interact with other guests around.

Day Five: Transfer back to Kampala.
After having your breakfast, you will check out your lodge and start on your journey back to Kampala, expect to have lunch en-route and then continue to Kampala, if time allows you can visit craft shops in Kampala to do your last minute shopping and then proceed to Entebbe Airport for your outbound flight.
