Explore the "land of a thousand hills" and the home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Your safari will start at Kigali International Airport and end at the same place.
Day One: Arrival in Kigali International Airport
You will be picked by our driver/guide at Kigali International Airport who will transfer you to the Hotel booked for you in Kigali. The guide will brief you about the safari program and leave you to rest. You will have dinner and overnight rest at the hotel booked for you.

Day Two: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After your breakfast, you will set of for Akagera National Park arriving in the early afternoon. You will have lunch and later go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema to see aquatic creatures like the Hippos, giant crocodiles and a profusion of water birds like the African fish eagle, papyrus Gonolek and the shoebill stork. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge booked for you.

Day 3: Game drive in Akagera National Park and travel to Kigali
After an early morning breakfast, you will and set off for a game drive to catch up with the early risers plus large predators including lions and hyenas plus bushbuck, zebra, Elephants, giraffes, Buffaloes, cape elands, impalas, oribi and antelopes. You will return for lunch at the Lodge and then in the afternoon drive back to Kigali. Dinner and overnight will be at the Hotel booked for you.

Day Four: Travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After your breakfast, you will travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park with stopovers at a number of historical and cultural sites within Butare and Nyanza, which include the National Museum and the Old King’s Palace for a stunning cultural exposure. Lunch will be in the town of Butare and then proceed to Nyanza arriving in the evening. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge booked for you.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will report at the Nyungwe National Park headquarters for briefing by the park rangers on the chimp trekking rules. You will then start the trek in search of the chimpanzees in the rain forest after the briefing. During the trek you will have the chance to see other primates such as the Rwenzori colobus monkey, Silver monkey, Chimpanzees, the Grey cheeked Mangabey, L’hoests monkey and the Owl faced monkey. You will then return to the lodge after the activity for a rest at the lodge. You will have dinner and overnight that the lodge that was booked for you.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibuye Town
In the morning after your breakfast, you will travel to Kibuye town on the Eastern Shores of Lake Kivu where you will have lunch and later in the afternoon have a canoe ride to discover the Island of ‘Napoleon’s Hat’ and the proceed with the same boat to Gisenyi town to enjoy the breathtaking views of Congo’s Nyiragongo Volcano. You will have dinner and overnight at the hotel reserved for you in Gisenyi.

Day 7: Transfer to Ruhengeri Town
You will travel to Ruhengeri town near the Volcanoes National Park. You will have a tour of this town and also visit the vibrant local markets before retiring to the lodge reserved for you for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 8: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park
After having an early morning breakfast, you will move to the Park headquarters where you will be briefed about the rules of gorilla trekking and be allocated the gorilla group you will be trekking. You will later be led by the ranger guides into the forest to search for the gorillas in the Volcano Virunga Hills and the verdant Valley. Once you have traced the gorillas, you will spend one hour observing the gorillas in their natural environment. You will then return to your lodge for lunch and later visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera in the evening for a cultural experience. You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge reserved for you.
Day 9: Cultural tour and travel back to Kigali
You will visit various Rwanda communities to interact with the local people in their family settings to learn about their daily routine activities and to participate in some of the activities. You will learn how the people prepare their traditional food, how they rear animals and discover their way of life. You may also visit the women Cooperative groups making handcrafts from banana fibers and reeds. Later you will drive back to Kigali. Dinner and overnight will be at the Hotel of your booking.

Day 10: Departure at Kigali International Airport
Depending on the time of your departure flight you may have a brief Kigali City excursion to visit the Genocide memorial sites and the colorful markets for souvenirs before being transferred to the Airport for your departure flight.
