3 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Mgahinga National Park

This is another great expedition for you to encounter these cousins of ours while on a short stay in Uganda. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park has been pushed out by many tourists on Uganda tours because it’s not known to many travelers like Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

This is Uganda’s smallest national park covering an area size of about 33sq.km but has the best gorilla trekking experience according to a few of the travelers who have been there. There is only one family of Gorillas in this national park that is open for trekking and that is the Nyakagezi Mountain Gorilla group.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

On this day, you will be met by our safari company driver and then start your journey to the extreme southwestern parts of Uganda close to the Rwanda, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of Congo borders. You will then make a brief stopover at the Uganda Equator Monument for a photo session and later on proceed with your journey to Mbarara for lunch and refreshments.

We shall then continue our journey to the Kisoro region while crossing very beautiful landscapes until we arrive late in the evening for dinner and relaxation as we wait for the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Later Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

As early as 6 am, we shall drive to the National Park offices ready to tick Uganda Gorilla Trekking off the Bucket list. The day will open up with a briefing from the head ranger guide about the history, attractions, and what to expect on your gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Before the briefing session, there will be registration to verify whether you are eligible to trek mountain gorillas of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

You will then be assigned a ranger guide to lead you with two armed rangers to protect you from any others who might be attacked while in the national park. As we mentioned earlier there is only a single group open for tourism, you will only be allowed to stay with it for one hour as you enjoy it and go about its daily life. After this experiential moment, you will return to the starting point for the certification ceremony as proof that you trekked the mountain Gorillas of Mgahinga National Park.

You will then embark on your journey to Lake Bunyonyi which is Africa’s second deepest lake for Relaxation as you memorize the great day you had.

Day 3: Optional Island Boat Trip and Transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe

You will have a luxurious breakfast with motivating scenic views of the lake Bunyonyi and later embark on an option island boat experience which goes for about an hour. Head back to Entebbe or any other place of your stay around Kampala and this will mark the end of the successful trip with our travel company. This will mark the end of your 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Mgahinga National park.
