Overview

Uncover the true beauty and endowment of Uganda through our 13 days Uganda Safari by exploring its top tourist treasures that include the premier Murchison falls National Park in the north-western part of the country, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the south-west, Queen Elizabeth Park, Kibale Forest and Lake Mburo National Parks in the western part then spice it up by relaxing along the tranquil shores of Lake Bunyonyi as well as raising your adrenaline hormones by visiting Jinja (East Africa’s Adventure city).

A number of activities have been lined up for this safari and these are mountain gorilla trekking, boat rides, game drives, chimpanzee treks, community tours, and many others.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala: Arrival

As you jet in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport, you will be received by a private safari driver and transferred to Kampala. Finalize with the entire check-in formalities at the reserved Hotel then freshen-up and have some food (dependent on time of arrival). Later set out to explore the riveting Kampala City by trying out some of the Ugandan cuisines and shopping at the Craft markets. Afterwards, head back to your place of lodging to rest once you are done having a delicious meal.

Day 2: Kampala City - Murchison Falls National Park, a premier safari destination.

Have a fresh bout of energy with typical continental breakfast and start the 6-7 hours’ journey through small en-route towns, beautiful sceneries and roadside markets before making a stop at Ziwa rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola district.

Here you will track endangered rhinos and proceed to Masindi town for lunch break. Following the fatigue from the long journey, no Park activities will be planned for this day.

Day 3: Explore the beauty of Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison falls National Park is one of the best places to enjoy Uganda safaris for its beautiful sceneries, rich wildlife and avifaunal diversity. Leave the Lodge after enjoying a delicious breakfast and undertake a game drive that takes 3-4 hours with sights of Jackson’s hartebeests, leopards, Cape buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, African bush elephants, Oribis, Rothschild Giraffes, Olive baboons, Topis, Vervet monkeys, Lions, and many others alongside countless bird species.

Get back to the Lodge for lunch and prepare for round two of your Murchison falls Tour and this is in Nile River. Prepare for the boat ride where numerous Hippos and Nile crocodiles are seen close to the Boat while the elephants, buffaloes and antelopes are sighted from the banks of the River.

Day 4: From Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park

Hop into the Safari car to Kibale Forest National Park, passing the stunning Albertine Escarpment and Fort Portal Town along the way. Once in Kibale Forest National Park, visit some of the Crater Lakes and overnight is in the middle of the jungle.

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park: Chimpanzee trek and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Tame the jungles with a primate trek and enjoy lots of sights, than you ever imagined. First have breakfast and have briefing at the Park Headquarters before following the Ranger guide to search for the chimpanzees, our close relatives. These primates live in troops, some of which have to be habituated for trekking and for the search, it is done on-foot and goes for 1-4 hours with sights of other primates, birds and tree species that are worth your attention.

After the allotted one hour with the chimpanzees, we are transferred back to the Lodge for lunch after which proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy a typical wilderness experience with dinner and rest at the Safari Camp.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park: Game safari and rewarding boat cruise

Get ready for the morning game drive after a healthy breakfast at the Safari Camp/Lodge. The Queen Elizabeth Park tour includes a guided game rive and later boat ride in the afternoon. Start driving through the vast savannah plains of Kasenyi area where herds of Cape buffalos, Uganda Kobs, African bush elephants, Topis, hartebeests, giant forest hogs, mongoose, Olive baboons, bushbucks, prides of lions, spotted hyenas, hippos and leopards to mention but a few.

After the interesting game drive, have some rest at the lodge then continue to the Mweya jetty for the start of this boat ride. Here commonly spotted animals are hippos and Nile crocodiles as well as elephants, antelopes and water birds. After this tiring but rewarding day in the wilderness, grab some dinner and catch some sleep at the Safari Lodge.

Day 7: To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Grab some Breakfast and continue to the waiting safari vehicle and take a ride to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Proceed via the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where a short game drive will increase chances of spotting the rare tree climbing lions and take a lunch break at Savannah Resort in Kihiihi. Rest at any of the stunning safari lodges in Bwindi.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi forest and drive to Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy a hearty breakfast and set out for briefing at the Park Headquarters, then begin the actual trek for mountain gorillas at 8:00am. Walk through the densely forested Park. while searching for the mountain gorillas is the main focus, pay close attention to the singing birds and animals encountered because you can never fail to meet them and on successfully trekking and finding them, your clock will start ticking as only one hour is provided for viewing and photography. Have lunch and check-out of the Lodge for a journey to the stunning Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 9: Optional activities at Lake Bunyonyi

Get prepared for the Lake Bunyonyi tours after a delicious breakfast. First be taken to the shores of Uganda’s deepest lake where a number of activities will be chosen and the options are boat rides, cycling, guided nature walk, community/village tours as well as birding and these activities end in the evening thus breaks will be taken between adventures for lunch. The tour of this spectacular Lake ends in the evening when we return to the lodge for rest and dinner.

Day 10: Lake Bunyonyi - Lake Mburo National Park

This morning, have breakfast and wind down the scenic slopes of south-western Uganda and continue to Lake Mburo National Park in a 4-5 hours’ journey with jaw-dropping views along the way.

Arrive in the park with a game drive where impalas, Burchell’s zebras, Topis, Defassa waterbucks, Cape buffaloes, common elands, Vervet monkeys, Rothschild giraffes, Olive baboons, impalas and others will be seen. Be served Lunch and later undertake a boat ride on Lake Mburo. After having a feel of this park’s adventures, catch some sleep at the safari camp / lodge.

Day 11: To Jinja via Kampala

Relish breakfast and get ready to have a short game drive through Lake Mburo National Park with hope of seeing more giant elands, hartebeests, common warthogs, Vervet monkeys, leopards (if lucky), Impalas, Topis, Oribis, spotted hyenas and the Defassa waterbucks before exiting Lake Mburo National Park for Jinja, via Kampala City.

Day 12: Adventure tours in Jinja

Be treated to a hearty breakfast, then head out for adventure ours as part of our 13 days Uganda safari. If you have the ambition to undertake bungee jumping, whitewater rafting, Quad bike tours along the banks of the River Nile, or Horseback rides, then this will be one of your best days of this trip. Stroll along the banks of River Nile or watch some birds in the evening then retire from this fun-filled day for dinner and rest.

Day 13: Transfer to Entebbe international airport and departure

Sadly, our 13 days Uganda safari comes to an end but one thing for sure is that the memories will last forever. Have a delicious breakfast and check-out of the hotel for a journey to Kampala City then to Entebbe International Airport if your flight is scheduled for this day.
