Overview

Explore the bustling metropolis of Kampala, Uganda's oldest city, on foot, cab, or motorcycle in a single day. Learn about what happens in different parts of town, city dweller behavior, infrastructure, food, fresh air, historical, religious, and cultural attractions. Kampala takes pride in its safe environment and the seven hills upon which it is built.

There is much to see and learn about Kampala as you explore the few selected locations, from religious customs to clothing code, food, and more. The day begins with a visit to the Independence Monument, followed by visits to the Uganda National Museum, the Ndere Cultural Center, Owino Markets and the famous Kasubi tombs. The pick-up and drop-off points are at your discretion.

Detailed excursion.

Day 1: Uganda Museum, Owino Market and Kasubi tombs.

Begin your journey with a breakfast meal at the agreed-upon meeting location. After that, you'll be briefed by your city tour guide, who will tell you all about Kampala, one of Africa's oldest and smartest towns. The tour is entirely up to you! Taking a taxi, walking, or riding a motorcycle are all options. The day will begin with a visit to the Independence Monument, which contains information on Uganda's history as well as tributes to the country's freedom warriors. On October 9, 1962, Uganda declared independence from British colonial powers. The Uganda National Museum will be the next stop, where you will view and learn about the country's historical and cultural artifacts for about one hour.

Then it's time for lunch at the Ndere Cultural Center, followed by a visit to Owino Market to pick up some items to take home as a memento of your visit to Uganda. In the evening, you'll visit Kisubi Tombs, a historical burial site of former Buganda Kings who were influential in Uganda's governance and colonialism. Following the local guides' explanations of the Kings' contributions and the history of the graves. When the timer runs out, say your goodbyes to your buddies and head to your designated drop-off location.
