24 Days Primate Wildlife and Rwenzori Hiking Safari

The 24 days Wildlife Primate and Rwenzori hiking safari is one of the most adventurous Uganda safaris which takes you and your loved ones with new, better and so different in a magical place with a lot of beautiful sceneries. Africa's king of the jungle in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Park, our closest cousins in Kibale National Park. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park (rhino tracking)

After an early morning breakfast of your 24 days primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking safari, You will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. These endemic southern white rhinos were re-introduced into the country. Later proceeded with lunch in Masindi town. You will embark on your journey to Murchison Falls nationally with a visit to the top of the falls. Then you will check in to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Early morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

On day two of the 24 days of primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking, you will proceed with your packed breakfast for a game drive within the park. While on this game drive, you will be able to spot some of the big 4 four animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, and leopards. Other wildlife that you will observe include giraffes, kobs, and some bird species.

Later, you will be transferred back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch as you prepare for the boat safari. After your lunch, you will then be transferred to Paara on the shores of the Victoria Nile for an amazing boat safari. While on your boat safari, you will be able to observe the meandering Victoria Nile at the bottom and wildlife like the hippopotamus, busking Nile crocodiles, water bucks, elephants, kobs, and many more wildlife. Later in the evening, you will be transferred back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Breakfast picnic on top of the falls and transfer to Kibale National Park

On the beautiful morning of day three of the 24 days of primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking, you will be transferred to the top of the falls for a picnic breakfast with magnificent views of the sunrise. Then after breakfast, you will proceed to the lodge check out, and embark on the route to Kibale Forest National Park. You will drive through the small towns and villages that showcase the true African rhythm of life. You will have a lunch stopover in Hoima town and then embark on your journey to Kibale National Park. On arrival, you will have your accommodation within the park. You will then check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park and nature walk in Bigodi Wetland

After an early morning breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters with your packed lunch. While at the park headquarters, you will be briefed on the dos and don'ts to follow while in the park during the chimpanzee trekking activity. Then you will proceed with the activity where you will track and observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. You will have a one-hour interaction with them and later you will enjoy your packed lunch.

After this activity, you will be given a certificate to thank you for doing chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale Forest National Park. Then you will proceed to Bigodi for a community walk around the Bigodi wetland. You will be able to see some bird species and also proceed to the banana juice brewing center for the enjoyment of banana juice and brewed banana juice. You will later be transferred back to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 5: Transfer to Kasese for hiking

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and proceed to Kasese where you will enjoy your lunch and then have a relaxed day around Kasese town as you prepare for the ten-day hike of mountain Rwenzori Enjoy your relaxed night around town.

Day 6: Transfer to mountain Rwenzori for hiking and start the hike up to Nyabitaba camp

After your early morning breakfast, you will proceed to the starting point of the hiking at Mihinga gate where the rangers and porters who will spend the 8 days hiking of the 24 days of primate, wildlife, and Rwenzori hiking will be waiting for you. After briefing, you will start your hike up to Nyabitaba camp which will be at an elevation of 2651 meters. During this hike, you will hear some chimpanzees and also see the white colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys. You will have an overnight and dinner at Nyabitaba hut.

Day 7: Leave Nyabitaba camp to John mate camp(3505meters)

On day seven of the 24 days primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking safari, you will proceed from Nyabitaba camp following the trail that will be dropping down through the forests as you experience the change in vegetation cover passing through the Kurt Shafer Bridge with the confluence of Mubuku and Bujuku rivers below it. As you proceed with the hike, you will pass through the bamboo forest with a long traverse and exhausting stretch of the slippery moss-covered rock. Mount Stanley and Speke will be seen while hiking before going through the giant heather, lobelia, and groundsel where you will be proceeding to John Maate hut after the bog. You will have your dinner and overnight at this camp.

Day 8: Trek to the Bujuku camp for an overnight

During day 8 of the 24 days primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking safari, you will proceed from John Maate hut where the trail will drop you at Bujuku camp ( 3962 meters) and cross the Bujuku River which goes through the lower Bigo bog - home to the giant lobelias. This will involve jumping from tussock to Tussock where the Bog will finally be crossed without getting into the freezing mud. Towards this camp, the upper Bigo bog will have a way to Bujuku Lake and the views of Mount Baker in the south and Mount Stanley in the west. The camp is located in the shadow of Mount Baker and Speke and is in a narrow valley below Stuhlmann Pass. The camp is usually good for the clients to adapt to the new environment due to the change in the temperatures, humidity, altitude, and other environmental factors.

Day 9: Continue to Mount Stanley

On this day you will leave the Bujuku camp for Mount Stanley. At this point, you will keep experiencing changes in temperature levels, vegetation type, and many others. On arrival to this mount, you camp there for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Trek to Elena camp (4543 meters)

You will follow the trail from Mount Stanley to Elena camp as you hike through the magical forest and you will pass by the Scott Elliot pass and down to the Kitandara lakes. You will have an overnight stay and dinner at the icy Elena hut.

Day 11: Trek to Margherita Peak (the highest peak ) and Descend to Kitandara camp

On this day you will wake up very early in the morning and continue trekking to Margherita Peak of Mount Stanley. This hike will take about 4 to 5 hours depending on the weather conditions of the area this is a tough hike since it takes you through the three glaciers slippery rock, ice, and exposed areas. You will pass through the Stanley plateau with a lot of acclimatization of fog, and altitude sickness as you hike up to Margarita peak which is the highest peak of the Rwenzori mountain and you will have some time of relaxation on this peak as you have some photography moments. Later you will descend to Kitandara camp for a stay and overnight.

Day 12: Leave Kitandara Camp and Descend to Guy Yeoman Camp

You will descend from Kitandara Camp to Guy Yeoman Camp the steep up spreading out from the base of Mount Baker continuing to the southern part of the mountain from this side. You will have the best view of the Uganda-Congo border in the west and Mount Stanley to the north. You will descend through the steep rock trails up to the rock shelter at Bujongolo which is a base camp for the historic expedition by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906. you will have an overnight at this camp.

Day 13: Descend to Nyabitaba camp as you descend to the starting point of the mountain

On this day 13 of the 24 days of primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking, you will be ending your hiking adventure as you proceed back to the base where you started your hiking from at the mining gate. You will pass through the muddy trails with views of the Timbuktu River. Upon arrival at the Mihinga gate, you will be welcomed by the cultural dances from the community congratulating the success that you have achieved in the Rwenzori mountains. You will embark on your journey to Kasese town for dinner, relaxation, and overnight.

Day 14: Relaxation day and Transfer to Elizabeth National Park

On this day 14 of the 24 days of primate, wildlife, and Rwenzori hiking, you will have a relaxed morning with breakfast at any time you wish. Later on, you will have your lunch as you check out of the lodge for a departure to Queen Elizabeth National Park. As you transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park you will have stunning views of the park while sitting with some wildlife like elephants, and kobs. You will check into the lodge for an overnight and dinner.

Day 15: Early morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

After an early morning breakfast, you will proceed to the park for a game drive where you will have exciting views of the park, and see some of the big five animals like lions, elephants, buffaloes, and other wildlife like spotted hyenas, and cheetahs. After the game drive you will be transferred back to the park for relaxation and lunch.

Later after having lunch, you will be transferred to the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise. During this boat cruise, you will be able to see some wildlife on the Kazinga Channel like hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and some bird species like the fishing eagles and many others. Later in the evening, you will be transferred back to the lodge for dinner and relaxation plus overnight.

Day 16: Early morning crater drive and an evening game drive

Early morning crater drives around the craters of the park with a picnic breakfast on one of the craters as you have stunning views of the sunrise. Also during this crater drive you will also site different bird species that stay within these craters. Later you will be transferred back to the hotel for lunch as you prepare for an evening game drive.

In the evening as you are in the game drive, you will be able to see many nocturnal animals like lions, leopards, and many others. Then you will have the opportunity to have a sunset and then proceed back to the lodge for an overnight and dinner.

Day 17: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After an early morning breakfast on day 17 of the 24 days of primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking, you will embark on your journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park for gorilla trekking. Here, you will pass through the Ishasha wilderness and we shall notice the change in the vegetation zone as we proceed to the southern-western part of the country. As you arrive, you will check into the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight

Day 18: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking and then you will be grouped into groups of 8 since one family is visited by 8 people per day. Then you will proceed with the activity and you have to track the gorillas in their natural habitats. You will be able to interact with them. Later you will be transferred back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight

Day 19: Bike riding around the community

On the 19th day of 24 days of the primate wildlife and Rwenzori hiking safari, you proceed the day with bike riding around the community where you visit the Batwa community and have interactions with the local community about their way of living. Later on, we shall proceed back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

After lunch, you will continue with bike riding as you head to the coffee community. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for an overnight.

Day 20: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and an afternoon boat cruise

After your early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi. On arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you will relax for a while and have lunch. You will proceed with an afternoon boat cruise on the lake where you will be able to visit different islands with different historical meanings including the punishment island. Then when you are done with the boat cruise, you will have an evening site view for the set with also the amazing sunset views. Later you will move to the lodge for dinner and relaxation plus an overnight.

Day 21: Nature walk and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Every early morning nature walks around the lake where you will be able to see some bird species around the surroundings of the lake. Then you will be transferred to Lake Mburo with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch plus a visit to the Igongo cultural center and hike to the monument eclipse. Later on, you will proceed with your journey to Lake Mburo National Park where you will check into the lodge for a relaxed evening, overnight, and dinner.

Day 22: Early morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

On the 22nd day of the 24 days primate, wildlife, and Rwenzori hiking safari, you will embark on an early morning game drive which will involve siting of the different wildlife like the giraffes, impalas, zebras, defassa waterbuck, leopards, hippos topis and much other wildlife. you will be able to site more bird species since the park is home to over 350 bird species. you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation as you prepare for an afternoon boat cruise.

In the afternoon, you will embark on the boat cruise on the lake Mburo where you will site different species on the shores of the lake like hippos, zebras, and many others. Then you will also have the best views of some sections of the park and later on in the evening, you proceed to the best site of the park for a sunset view. Return to the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and overnight.

Day 23: Bike riding adventure around the park

After breakfast, we proceed with a bike riding adventure on day 23 of the 24 days of wildlife primate and Rwenzori hiking. You proceed with this adventure around the park with armed rangers and the communities where you will enjoy your riding around the open vegetation of the park and visit the communities around the park where you will interact with them to know and learn their way of living like cattle rearing.

You will proceed to the best site of the community view where you will enjoy your delivered lunch by the hotel. Proceed with your bike riding around the other parts of the park still adventuring. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 24: Transfer to Kampala - Departure

On the last day of the 24 days of wildlife primate and Rwenzori hiking, you will do a horse riding safari around the park. Embark on the drive back to Kampala. You will have a stopover for a picnic breakfast within the park and later you will return to the lodge for refreshment and check out of the lodge to embark on your route to Entebbe. As you embark on your journey to Kampala Entebbe for departure, you will have a stopover at the quarter for your en-route lunch and then proceed. On arrival in Kampala, you will be transferred back to Entebbe to prepare for your flight back home.
